The Perth Zoo Administration Building is a 'high tech' building with a deliberately 'low tech' external appearance. The brief required the design of a building with minimal running costs, in particular the minimisation of energy use. Passive solar principles were incorporated into the design with active night cooling in summer and an indirect evaporative cooling system. The building provides office space, staff amenity rooms, and workshops for the Zoo's operations centre.
