The façades of this existing three storey office building in West Perth required a facelift. The opportunity was seen not only to improve the appearance of the building, but also improve its thermal performance. The general shape of the building is such that the long Gordon St façade faces North West while the Murray Street façade faces South West, with both frontages bearing the brunt of the harsh summer sun. The solution has been to incorporate banks of Hunter Douglas Aerobrise louvres with a 45 degree solar cutoff angle, giving the building a modern, environmentally conscious appearance, while substantially reducing the air-conditioning requirements. This solution in conjunction with a new colour scheme has lifted its street appeal, making it more marketable while reducing running costs for the client.
