Residential Project:
Cunderdin Farmhouse
David and Jo Fulwood wanted a long term family home that would
be comfortable in the extreme temperatures of the West Australian
wheatbelt region. The site on the farm was selected to optimise the
prevailing cool breezes in summer and avoid the bitterly cold winds
and temperatures in winter. The building was shaped to take
advantage of these conditions with a protected indoor/outdoor room
with flywire barrier. Extensive verandahs were utilised with living
spaces and master bedroom facing north with other bedrooms on the
south. Mudroom and Farm office were located to deal with the
practical aspects of the farming family.
Environmental features - Solar pergola blades over the indoor
outdoor room. Solar pergolas and solar inserts to the north of the
living areas and master bedroom. Solar hot water system.
200,000 litre watertank. Photo Voltaics.
