The client wanted a double storey townhouse on the marina. A
challenge was to create a passive solar design on this narrow site
while still optimising the view over the bay to the south west. The
design achieves this by incorporating a double volume in the centre
of house allowing the north light to penetrate through high light
windows into this central space. Eaves overhangs control the
ingress of the summer sun while allowing winter warmth in. The
south west facing elevation is elegant and addresses the street
frontage while still providing adequate overhangs to prevent summer
