Residential Project:
Seville Grove
During the boom entrepreneur Nic
Carrington from Alternative Living approached Ecotect-Architects to
design transportable homes that would be built in Perth and
transported to outer suburbs and country locations where they would
be assembled. This was an innovative move at the time as brick
companies could not produce enough bricks to meet demand and
customers were looking for clever alternatives. It was an ideal
time to try different products. Interest in passive solar building
design was growing and Mr Carrington quickly embraced the idea of
ensuring his transportable homes would be designed and built to
comply with climatic and environmental conditions across a range of
Western Australian locations.
The result was the supply of six different
designs from which customers could choose and Alternative Living
would make necessary building adjustments to ensure the
transportable was best suited to the location in which it would be
placed.
