If you have had plans prepared for you or if you are considering purchasing an off the plan design, Ecotect Architects are able to provide floor plan appraisals through our Advisory Service. Whether you are considering building a new commercial building or undergoing an addition or renovations, this service will help you to ensure that your building will have appropriate energy and water saving measures.

This advice can relate to any or all of the following areas:

• Preliminary feasibility and costing
• Passive solar design and other ESD issues
• Planning and local council requirements
• General design issues
• Preliminary material selection
• Preliminary site analysis

The Advisory Service is provided by one of our architects who will meet with you for up to three hours. Alternatively, an on site meeting can be arranged if this is more appropriate to your situation.

Many sessions of advisory work as well as computer analyses have been carried out for government departments.  For example, in the 1980s and 1990s Garry Baverstock was very involved with the State Housing commission now known as Homes West to help them make the transition to passive solar deign of their social housing.

• 1988,  TECTO Computer analysis for the Chief of the Department to improve the passive solar aspects of a standard plan, and also a comparison with the 1979 solar competition design (built in the early 1980s)
• 1989,  Advice on the Departments standard plans and a report on the alternatives for construction and design processes
• 1990 - present day,  Advice on the generic designs of public buildings and their likely success in environmental terms
• 2008 - 2011,  Assessments of various home plans with compliance issues with the Town of Cottesloe.

Our appraisals can be based on our standard advisory fee, or carried out on a time charge basis.  We can also quote on a report when needed for development or building approvals.
