All forms of multi unit developments have been designed by
Ecotect-Architects. Luxury apartments in the 1980s were common
projects, when Garry Baverstock was working in association with the
firm, Horner Scanlan and Considine. This included multi
storey apartments and clusters of villa units.
During Garry Baverstock's stay in Wollongong, NSW, and Canberra
in the early 1970s, numerous large-scale home unit developments, up
4 storeys, were completed in the Woden Valley.
Numerous affordable home unit projects were designed in the
1980s and 1990s for Homes West. (refer to government services
section)
Retirement villages have been an important part of the firm's
clientele in the last 20 years. Recently a number of schemes
have been designed for Broome (refer to commercial services
section)
In addition to our design services, our architects are able to
provide advice to developers in order to produce multi-unit
developments that have a low impact on the environment.
The first step is to master plan the site to maximize the
opportunity of home units or apartments to have proper orientation
and access to natural cross ventilation.
Our designs are then crafted to be functional and incorporate a
style preferred by the client to be timeless or fashionable.
Once the concept is complete accurate costing is prepared to
ensure the feasibility of the project remains on track.
Our commercial fee of 5% basically applies to individually
varying projects but as the scale increases and unit designs are
standardized and repeated the fee will reduce. The fee can be
confirmed once a feasibility/conceptual study has been completed so
the scale and scope of work can be more accurately determined.
